Hayes Family Reunion at Tooborac ~ 10 March 2024
Due to COVID-19 issues, the planned Reunion for 2021 to Celebrate the 170th year since Mark and Maria Hayes arrived in Australia, was postponed. We are finally gathering in Tooborac in 2024.
Our Hayes Family Reunion ran on Sunday 10th March 2024, from 10am to 4pm at the Tooborac Hall. Family members were welcomed and asked to sign in at the door. We also took a portrait photo of each person to update our Ancestry family tree - be assured that living people are not visible to the public in Ancestry. Everyone began exploring all the various displays inside. The chatter and smiles were testimony to the delight felt at catching up with the broader family members. During the event there was a continuously running "Story of Mark and Maria Hayes" in the small air conditioned meeting room off to the side of the main hall; a fun 'ice-breaker' game with prizes; prizes for the oldest, etc. The variety of displays of Family Tree Charts; War Service photographs and documents; past Reunion photographs, etc., grow with each reunion. This year we had printed items from the Heathcote Historical Society. Lunch was enjoyed inside the hall or out where there was a bit of a breeze. Food was provided to share as well as people with their own picnics. PHOTOS
